If you have a taste for the dark ambient end of the horror soundtrack spectrum then this mix is probably right up your (darkened) street).
Despite having ‘Halloween’ in the title, this is not a mixtape to put on to get your Halloween party going, this is a slow and dark mix full of movie samples, sound effects, and slow burning and rumbling ambient scores from some classic horror movies.
Image a mixtape that David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti (iTunes) would probably put on to listen to together while spending the night in a deserted motel and you’ll be halfway there.
The mix includes tracks like ‘An Ending (Ascent)’ by Brian Eno, and ‘Easy on the Bones’ by Svarte Greiner, as well as sound clips and scores from more populist horror films like Scream. It all works really well, and the entire mix is a loy-key, unsettling and dark journey that is well worth checking out.
The whole thing runs for about an hour and twenty minutes. Stream it below – enjoy.
