‘I walked with a Zombie’ is a US film that was directed by Jacques Tourneour and released in 1943
This black and white classic initially had mixed responses when it was first released, but as the years have passed it has rightfully becomes regarded as a horror classic.
The story revolves around a nurse that is looking after the wife of a plantation owner, who has had a voodoo curse placed on her that has turned her into a zombie. The nurse attempts to get the curse revoked and the storyline follows her struggles as she dives deeper into the voodoo culture the surrounds her
The standout scene is a midnight walk she takes through the plantation accompanied by a huge, lumbering zombie – a scene that remains striking and arresting many years later.
