‘Sugar Hill’ is a cult blaxploitation horror film that was released in 1974 and directed by Paul Maslansky.
The film focuses on one woman’s attempt to get bloody revenge on a gang of thugs that killed her boyfriend. In order to achieve her goals, she turns to voodoo in order to summon and control a gang of zombies.
The zombies in ‘Sugar Hill’l are more in line with the first wave of zombies that hit the cinema in the 1930s and 1940s – mindless automatons under a spell, as opposed to the undead, rising-from-the-graves variety that was spawned with George A. Romero.
