‘The Dead Hate the Living!’ is an American low-budget horror film that was written and directed by Dave Parker, and was released in 2000.

The film centers on a group of film-makers who are creating their own independent, low-budget horror film. The group break into an old abandoned hospital in order to use it for a suitably scary and cheap location when they come across an actual dead body.

Being the opportunists that they are, this group of aspiring film-makers decide to use the dead body in their movie, but things don’t go to plan when they accidentally bring the corpse back to life and they also inadvertently open up a portal that allows more zombies and undead to enter the hospital. Yeah, who said film-making was easy….

The movie is not bad for a low budget offering, and despite not really offering anything new to the genre, there is still a lot to enjoy here. The film is also full of references to other movies and icons from the zombie genre, for example, Lucio Fulchi’s name appears on one of the headstones in a graveyard – this is definitely a film made by horror-geeks, for horror-geeks.
