‘The Hanging Woman‘ is a Spanish horror film set in Scotland that is also known by the title ‘La orgía de los muertos‘.
In the film, a stranger travels to a remote Scottish highland community in order to attend the reading of the will of his rich Aunt who has just passed away.
It doesn’t take long for him to realize that it isn’t just his Aunt who is dead, in fact the who place is crawling with zombies who are terrorizing the region.
Paul Naschy, the Spanish horror legend, plays a gravedigger who also happens to a necrophiliac, who gets a bit too involved with the living dead than even he probably intended.
The film got a second wind of life when it was picked up for distribution by Troma Entertainment. This is an atmospheric film with nasty moments.
The posters and artwork that was used to market the film were in a gothic style, which totally suit this slow-burning and atmospheric movie.
‘The Hanging Woman’ Posters
There is a grim beauty in the artwork and illustrations used for the posters that accompanied ‘The Hanging Woman‘.
The film was even released under the odd title ‘Bracula’ – you can see the movie poster below:
