Directed by John Gilling and released in 1966, ‘The Plague of the Zombies‘ is an often overlooked zombie film, and is arguably one of the best Hammer Horror films of their extensive catalogue.

A doctor starts investigating a plague that is wiping out residents of a small Cornish village. When the doctor wants to investigate the bodies of the dead who have succumbed to the plague, he finds all the coffins empty. To add to the mystery, reports start coming in of zombies being seen in the vicinity of the local tin mine.

The Plague of the Zombies‘ is steeped in atmosphere and has many truly chilling scenes. Any horror and zombie fan needs to have seen this. You can find out more about the film here

There is a special place in our heart for the posters that were released for ‘The Plague of the Zombies‘ – they seem to straddle the line between the traditional horror styling of the 1960s, and the modern zombie films that were nearly upon us by the time this film was released.
