Given that the title of this film is ‘Violent Shit III: Infantry of Doom‘ I think it is safe to assume that you are already aware that this is not a polished piece of Hollywood horror. This is low budget shocks, splatter, and bad taste from start to finish.
To be honest, we were surprised that there was a ‘Violent Shit’ 1 and 2, let alone that a 3rd one was made.
‘Violent Shit III‘ was written and directed by German film-maker Andreas Schnaas, and it was shot directly on to video. It was actually filmed in 1993 on the edges of Hamburg, but it didn’t get a formal release until 1999.
The film positions itself as a horror-splatter-comedy, in the same vein that Peter Jackson’s earlier films (Braindead) are…..except much, much cheaper and much less sophisticated.
The plot follows a small group who get lost at sea, before washing up on an island that is run by a sadistic and tyrannical overlord (played by the director, Andreas Schnaas) who unleashes his metal masked army on them. The rest of the film concerns itself with the ongoing battle between the small group of survivors as they try to survive being hunted down by the metal faced killers. It’s a thin plot that only really exists to set up the reason for a prolonged gory and bloody battle.
The film was also released in the US under the title ‘Zombie Doom‘.
