A stash of treasure is discovered off the African coast in a sunken and rotting wreck, and it is rumored to contain riches and diamonds for anyone that can salvage it.

However, there is a problem. The treasure and the shipwreck is guarded by a group of pale-faced zombies who were previously the crew of the ship. They have been put under a curse that dictates they must guard the shipwreck and the treasure until the curse if lifted.

Probably the first outing on film for underwater zombies, which would be later used in films like ‘Shock Waves‘ and ‘Zombie Flesh Eaters‘.

The underwater effects in this film were created by simply filming through the side of an aquarium. Bits of seaweed were draped over a few of the zombies in the film as an attempt to convince you that they really had just emerged from the sea.

The theatrical posters were pretty cool for this film and featured taglines like “ZOMBIES OF THE OCEAN DEEPS!”
